In-Home Personal Cooking Classes

Your Plate or Mine, Inc. offers personal cooking classes in your home in the greater Los Angeles, San Fernando Valley, South Bay and surrounding areas. Our “chefstructors” provide hands-on teaching and cooking demonstrations in one-on-one or small group settings and are tailored to empower your inner culinary genius! Each class is 2.5 – 3 hours; cooking parties are up to 5 hours, both culminating with a tasting of the finished dishes. While we provide specific menus, each class can be tailored to your personal skill level, tastes and diet.  We teach gluten-free, paleo and vegan recipes as well!

Adult Cooking Classes: Whether you are a beginner seeking to learn basic skills, or a gourmet food lover who wants to learn professional tips and sharpen your culinary skills, these classes are for you! All classes are custom-designed for your cooking level and culinary interests. You will be learning one-on-one with a professional chef who is on hand to answer all your cooking questions. It’s personal, hands-on learning in your own kitchen!

Kid/Teen Cooks: These classes are for the younger crowd that loves to play with their food. In addition to learning how to prepare delicious food, kids will also learn about proper nutrition, kitchen safety, and basic knife skills. Ages 8-17; parent or guardian must by present during instruction.

Couples Cooking Class: Are you are newly married and feeling lost with all those new kitchen toys from the registry? Maybe you’re looking for some new dishes to create together? This is a fun way to improve your culinary skills and augment your recipe repertoire. You will learn the basics of kitchen safety, knife skills, and how to make a fabulous meal, of course. This also makes a fun date night!

Cooking Dinner Parties/Cooking Demonstrations: This is the perfect way to entertain AND be a guest in your own home. Be as interactive as you’d like or sit back, relax and enjoy the menu that you and the chef plan together. This is a great opportunity to invite a few friends and try a recipe you have always wanted to learn to make, whether an appetizer, entrée dish, or dessert favorite. Just imagine a “live cooking show” in your own kitchen! Great for Bridal/Bachelorette Parties and Theme Parties!

Knife Skills: The Beginner’s Kitchen

This class is designed to help you feel confident in your kitchen with basic menus that can be personalized for your lifestyle. Each 2.5- 3-hour class will cover knife skills and use of equipment and basic cooking techniques. This course is perfect for:

  • Young adults tired of grilled cheese sandwiches
  • Newlyweds who need help with gifted kitchen equipment
  • The person charged with cooking who always makes that single perfect dish
  • Kid and teen chefs-to-be
  • YOU!

$175.00 per person, per class + cost of proteins and fresh produce*

(special rate for initial registration for 3 or more classes)

*Most pantry items are included, gluten-free and vegan items will be added to cost

A mileage surcharge may apply when classes or parties are located more than 20 miles from the Your Plate or Mine office.
